Heads Will Roll is one of the quests that you will encounter in the early stages of AC Shadows. At the end of this quest, you will face a moral dilemma: you'll decide the fate of one of the Wada Koretake's soldier. On this guide page, we will answer how your choice will affect your relationship with Yaya and which choice is the canon one.
What will happen if we choose the option Justice must be served?
After the attack on the castle during the Heads Will Roll quest and killing Wada Koretake, a cutscene will play where Mitsumune will want to behead the captured soldier. Yaya will oppose him, as she strongly condemns killing prisoners. The monks will turn to Naoe for help. Here, you will be able to choose one of two options.
- Justice must be served - Mitsumune will execute the prisoner. Yaya expresses her disappointment with Naoe's decision. This decision has no immediate consequences, but in the future it will somewhat complicate gaining Yaya's and recruiting her to the Hideout.
- Killing them isn't justice - the soldier is killed either way. However, here Yaya will appreciate the fact that you ed her. In the future, it will be a bit easier for you to recruit her to the League.
Importantly, if you play in Canon Mode, Naoe will always choose the option Justice must be served. In this mode, you will not have any influence on the decision or the course of the conversation. You can learn more about the Canon Mode on the dedicated page: What is Canon Mode?.
How to recruit Yaya to the League?
Shortly after killing Wada Koretake, you will meet Yaya again during The Stray Dogs quest. You will face two more choices there. If you want to have Yaya on your side, choose the following options:
- Forgive the bandit who attacked the temple.
- Persuade Yaya and Tetsuo to forgive each other.
To persuade Yaya to the League, you have to her opinion at least two out of three times (including the choice described earlier). This means that in Canon Mode, you have to complete The Stray Dogs quest flawlessly. If you succeed, you will have the opportunity to invite her to the Hideout.
