Assassin's Creed Shadows: How does auto-follow option for mounts work?
Auto-follow is a useful feature that makes it easier to navigate through vast open worlds. Update 1.0.2 introduced this feature to AC Shadows, making horseback travel in Japan much more enjoyable.
The latest update of Assassin's Creed Shadows introduced the option of automatically following the path leading to the mission objective while riding a horse. This option greatly facilitates moving through the vast map of Japan. From this section of the guide, you will learn how to activate the auto-follow option and what its limitations are.
How to enable auto-follow on horseback?
To enable auto-follow on horseback, select a quest from the Objective Board. Then, summon your mount and jump onto its back.
Make sure you have activated the Pathfinder mode. You can check which button to press at the bottom of the screen. Right next to it, you will find the Follow Road option. After pressing the required key, the horse will automatically move towards the active quest marker.
It's important to note that in order to enable auto-follow mode, you must be on a paved path. Following the objective unfortunately will not help you get out of the wilderness if it's outside the main paths.
Also, that when in the auto-follow mode, the horse won't move at its maximum speed. The route chosen by the game, although usually quite good, does not take into shortcuts, nor does it deviate from the standard paths. As a result, if it's crucial for you to get somewhere as fast as possible and you have a good sense of direction, it would be a better idea to guide the horse yourself.
