Assassins Creed Shadows: All Legendary Animals locations

Legendary sumi-e are one of the optional secret activities in Assassin's Creed Shadows. Our guide shows where to find all 5 legendary animals that Naoe can draw. Additionally, we explain what the requirements are for animals to appear in specific locations. Finding them all will allow you to unlock A Rare Occurence achievement.

All legendary sumi-e

1. In AC Shadows, you don't fight legendary animals, you draw them. This is an additional activity, available exclusively for Naoe. In total, there are 5 legendary sumi-e to be completed, the locations of which are presented on the attached map.
2. Legendary animals can only appear at certain times of the year and times of the day - below we provide the conditions for each sumi-e. If upon reaching a certain location you do not see the legendary animal, try reloading the map by using fast travel.
3. Naoe must sneak up to every legendary animal so as not to scare it away. This will allow you to draw an animal by holding down the observation button (L2/LT on the controller). You will unlock the legendary sumi-e decoration, which can be placed in the hideout.

#1 Legendary Grey Heron

1. The legendary animal can only appear in winter and only during the day.
2. You need to reach the Lake Suigetsu subregion in the northwestern part of Wakasa province, specifically the area south of Tsuruga village. Move very slowly, because it's especially easy to scare off a heron.

#2 Legendary White Tanuki

1. The legendary animal can only appear in the summer and only during the day.
2. You need to reach The Shimmering Fields area. Find the Shigaraki Hamlet and go a bit northeast from it.

#3 Legendary Wise Macaques

1. A group of legendary animals may only appear at night (the season is not important).
2. You need to reach the Little Leaf Glade. Find the Sarumaru Shrine and look around the area.

#4 Legendary Sakura Shika Deer

1. The legendary animal can only appear in the spring and only at night.
2. You need to reach the Mountain Blossom Pagoda viewpoint. Head southeast from the pagoda. Then head southeast from the pagoda until you reach the meadow.

#5 Legendary Silver Fox

1. The legendary animal can only appear in the fall and only at night.
2. You need to reach the Kamimisu Inari Shrine, which is a bit south of the Kamimisu Heights viewpoint.
