Release Date: May 22, 2025 Early Access
A sequel to the 2021 first-person multiplayer shooter, offered in a free-to-play model. Splitgate 2 combines various elements of Quake, Unreal Tournament and Portal series. We participate in team battles, using portals for teleportation and relying on futuristic arsenal.
Splitgate 2 is a sequel to Portal. The game was developed by the authors of the original, namely the 1047 Games studio, and like its predecessor, it is distributed in a free-to-play model with microtransactions.
Splitgate 2 takes us to the science fiction universe created for the purpose of the original game. The dominant form of entertainment and sports discipline are arena duels, fought as part of the Sol Splitgate League. During the game, we play as of four-person teams trying to secure a victory for themselves.
We watch the action from the first-person perspective (FPP). The driving force of the game are the tasks set for individual teams. In carrying them out, we have to fight against opponents, making use of a futuristic arsenal of firearms.
The faction we choose determines the weapons we have access to, as well as our fighting style. While Aeros can boast speed and agility, Meridian can manipulate time, and Sabrask is a real "tank". As we progress, we expand the range of weapons and combat skills.
We are allowed to use portals launched by a special cannon, which can instantly teleport us to various places on the battlefield. Skillful use of the potential dormant in them can give us an advantage on the battlefield. Thanks to them, we can flank enemies or attack them from behind, as well as quickly get to where things are "heating up".
Although Splitgate 2 allows for solo play, the game was primarily designed for multiplayer fun over the Internet.
