Lost Eidolons is a complex RPG with extensive turn-based strategy elements. The game was developed by the independent studio Ocean Drive and is its debut project.
Lost Eidolons takes us on a journey to a fantasy world. The continent of Artemesia, which was once divided between sovereign kingdoms, now belongs to a feudal empire ruled by the aging Emperor Ludivictus. One day, a mercenary (or mercenary woman) from the village of Lonetta named Eden falls victim to an aristocratic conspiracy and is disgraced. Having no other choice, he must the rebels, whose aim is to overthrow the tyrant conqueror and restore the old order in all of Artemesia.
Unlike many other games of this type, the story told in Lost Eidolons has a predetermined course. Therefore, the game does not include moral choices.
Game in Lost Eidolons starts with creating a character. The game lets us decide about the gender and appearance of the hero, as well as choose his profession. Then there's nothing left for us but to start the actual gameplay. It is based on two main foundations.
The first pillar are turn-based battles, which we observe from a top-down view. Victory can be achieved not only by sending well-developed soldiers into battle, but also by placing them in such a way that they can use the advantage guaranteed by the terrain (for example, units fighting at a distance should be placed on hills). As we progress, we unlock new troops and equipment for them. In addition, over time we develop our character and get better equipment for him.
The second pillar of the game are visits to the camp, where we control the hero directly, watching the action from behind his back (TPP). Here we deal with the recruitment and training of soldiers representing various specialties (from warriors, through archers, to mages), establishing relationships with new characters and nurturing friendships with those already known, as well as forming alliances and other activities related to the conduct of politics in the broadest sense. The camp is also a place where we accept various tasks pushing forward the plot and side missions.
Lost Eidolons graphics presents a high quality and was kept in a rather gloomy style. Gameplay is accompanied by soundtrack, which was composed by Clark Aboud - artist whose portfolio includes music for Slay the Spire.

Cultured Vultures: 5 / 10 by Maxim Klose-Ivanov
The characters form the heart of Lost Eidolons, but a whole slew of grating and annoying issues makes this a run-of-the-mill tactical role-playing game.

I didn’t expect to enjoy Lost Eidolons nearly as much as I did. I’d assumed it would be just another one-note SRPG set in another generic high fantasy world. The Fire Emblem similarities would be skin deep, and nowhere near as high quality. However, I was delighted to be wrong as this game over delivered on every level. Impressive presentation, simple yet deep combat, and there’s plenty of variety in progression and customization. And while the story’s long in the teeth and the reliance on visual novel style dialogue sequences may not be for everyone, fans of the genre will be right at home.
