Ghost Song is a 2D metroidvania action game with detailed, atmospheric sci-fi locations and varied combat with encountered aliens. It was developed by Old Moon, an independent studio, and published by Humble Games.
On the moon Lorian V wakes up from a long sleep Deadsuit - armed and ready to fight, but deprived of memories and purpose. We take on the role of the protagonist and explore the nooks and crannies of a dark, alien and hostile world, encountering ancient remains and secrets and defeating powerful creatures to discover or the truth about this place and ourselves. We are not the only ones lost, we meet other characters on our way and learn their stories.
We travel through vast, interconnected locations, sometimes jumping on platforms, defeating enemies and unlocking access to other areas, sometimes well hidden. While fighting and exploring we gain new weapons (both ranged and cold), ammunition and upgrades to them and to our suit. We can use them in various combinations to achieve optimal results against the encountered aliens and mutants.

Ghost Song blends common gaming elements with strange surprises, and the end result is certainly more than the sum of its parts.

Old Moon has crafted a delightfully atmospheric metroidvania, with satisfying gameplay, and endearing characters. Ghost Song boasts an intriguing narrative of self discovery, with a world of mystery that rewards exploration. Despite playing at its best too late in the campaign, Ghost Song is a beautifully somber, sometimes relatable experience, that I wasn't ready to leave by the time I had finished.

Almost like an alternate universe cosplay, Ghost Song is a game that aims to appeal to your nostalgia for the old school Metroid series, while mixing in some additions from recent iterations of the genre they spawned. A few minor missteps don't detract from an otherwise sensational package, which has a giant, charming and weirdly adorable heart.
