Dark Souls III Expansion Pack
Release Date: October 25, 2016
First major DLC expansion for the fantasy action RPG Dark Souls III, created by From Software studio. When it comes to mechanics, Ashes of Ariandel doesn’t introduce any major changes to the base game, focusing on complex combat system and clashes in which every encountered enemy can be a major hindrance to our hero.
Dark Souls III: Ashes of Ariandel for PC, PS4 and XONE is the first expansion for Dark Souls III. From Software, the developer responsible for the add-on had also created the base game and the previous installments of the series. The expansion can be bought separately, or as a part of the season that gives access to two DLCs.
The expansion introduces a new, snow-covered location called Ariandel, in which we discover further mysteries of the obscure universe of Dark Souls, of course while taking on hordes of enemies. Among them, we can single out few powerful bosses. Additionally, the developers prepared a special map for PvP encounters called Hollow Arena, new weapons, armors, and spells.
Dark Souls III: Ashes of Ariandel doesn’t differ much from the base game – it’s still a challenging action-RPG in which every enemy is a serious threat. During the gameplay, we explore open locations, trying to stay alive and discover the secrets hidden in the depths of Ariandel.

Game Ratings for Dark Souls III: Ashes of Ariandel Video Game.
Destructoid: 7 / 10 by Chris Carter
You don't really need Ashes of Ariandel unless you've squeezed every ounce out of Dark Souls III already or thrive on PVP. I think the concept of splitting up their resources took away from the sum of both parts, but there's still plenty of challenges and surprises to warrant another bloody good time. Or a future Game of the Year version bookended romp.
ZTGD: 7 / 10 by Justin Celani
Ashes of Ariandel is a good time for those looking to give themselves an excuse to boot up Dark Souls 3 again, as if that is even necessary.
IGN: 7.8 / 10 by Brendan Graeber
The Painted World of Ariandel presents a land that’s both enticing and dangerous, and there’s plenty of challenges to face even if you won’t have to face them too many times. However, unless you really love dueling in PvP arenas and can find sustained interest there, this adventure may serve as more of an appetizer than a full course meal.
