Prepared for the goggles of virtual reality, conversion of popular FPS with RPG elements, released on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PlayStation Vicie. Gearbox Software is responsible for creating both the original title and the VR port.
Borderlands 2 VR is a new version of the popular hybrid of FPS and RPG that launched on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012 (and two years later also on the portable PlayStation Vita console). This time we are dealing with a port prepared for PlayStation VR goggles. The creation and publishing of both the original title and the port was done by Gearbox Software.
Borderlands 2 VR takes place on the planet Pandora, shortly after the end of a story known from the first part of the series. Handsome Jack, this time the main antagonist, bought out the biggest weapon manufacturer in the game world, Hyperion, and proclaimed himself the dictator of Pandora, after claiming the merits of the protagonists of the previous game. We play the role of an adventurer trying to reach the legendary Vault before Jack does it and uses the power hidden in it for evil purposes.
Borderlands 2 VR is a FPS with RPG elements, modelled after hack & slash games in the vein of Diablo. The creators prepared four different characters: Salvador, Maya, Zer0 and Axton - each of them has their own special skill (e.g. Zer0 creates a holographic decoy and becomes invisible, while Maya can temporarily immobilize a selected enemy) and unique tree of development. With a selected hero we visit a variety of locations, completing quests and fighting legions of enemies.
An extensive equipment system is of great importance for the game. Each of the objects we find (mainly weapons, but also gadgets, e.g. shield generators) has a random set of statistics and attributes that distinguish it from others. The guns can also differ in the way they shoot - it depends largely on their manufacturer (in the game we will find several different companies producing different equipment).
Borderlands 2 VR s targeting and hitting through body movements. The game also enables the use of a first person view while driving. There are also some new skills in the game, such as bullet time (called BAMF - Bad Ass Mega Fun) and teleportation (makes it easier to move around, but it is not obligatory to use it). The skill trees of individual characters have also been refreshed.
Unlike the original version of the game, Borderlands 2 VR offers single player mode only.
Borderlands 2 VR looks very similar to the original title. We are still dealing with Unreal Engine and three-dimensional, cel-shaded environment. Of course, although there are no big technological differences compared to the original, PlayStation VR goggles enable us to experience Pandora in a completely new way.
The game can be controlled via Dualshock 4 or two PlayStation Move controllers - depending on the player's preferences.

Game Ratings for Borderlands 2 VR Video Game.
Push Square: 6 / 10 by Sammy Barker
There's clearly a lot of effort been invested into bringing Borderlands 2 to PSVR, and that's appreciated. The gameplay does feel dated these days – and the lack of DLC and co-op is a real shame – but there's still fun to be had with the loot-shootin' loop, and Pandora scales well to virtual reality. The PS Move control scheme is cumbersome but the game plays fine with a DualShock 4 in hand, and an array of comfort options mean that you can tailor the experience to your exact needs.
PlayStation LifeStyle: 6 / 10 by Blake Grundman
Despite my desire to scream Borderlands 2 VR's praises from the mountaintop, objectively speaking, the overall package is a bit of a mixed bag. We already knew that the game was fun as hell, and that still remains true while the visor is on. However, odd control schemes, lack of core gameplay features from previous installments, and unfortunate legacy design decisions make this holistically feel like an inferior experience. If this is your first chance to explore Pandora, it's worth the journey, but if you're planning a return visit, you'd probably be better off firing up a previous version.
DualShockers: 6.5 / 10 by Grant Huff
Borderlands 2 VR captures you with its fun and ridiculous world, but doesn't do much to propel itself into the must-buy VR game category.
