This year marks the 25th birthday of the Tomb Raider series. On this occasion we got a video, which shows the Tomb Raider: Ascension prototype - the title that eventually turned into a reboot of the series released in 2013.
According to what we read in the description under the video, Ascension was to tell the beginning of Lara Croft's story. However, the footage shows that developers planned to develop something dark, which fits in the convention of survival horror. We see the protagonist traversing gloomy locations, where she encounters all sorts of monsters.
In addition, two other videos that show how 2013's Tomb Raider was developed, have been released. They present concept arts and behind the scenes mechanics design.
