One player ditched Destiny 2 for Dune Awakening, and they’re likely not alone making the switch

Dune Awakening is luring players away from titles like Destiny 2. The new MMORPG is definitely creating a stir.

We're just a day away from the full release of Destiny 2 for it.

Against all odds, Dune Awakening is pulling players away from other games

No doubt about it, Dune: Awakening really surprised me. After those rough beta tests and Conan Exiles-style launch, rough at first, then slowly fixed over time.

Not going to sugarcoat it, there were some hiccups at launch. “outdated client'” error, and a bunch of early negative reviews. But now Dune: Awakening is rocking a solid “Very Positive” rating, and people are all over it.

One person on Reddit said they’re bailing on Destiny 2 for Dune: Awakening. They’re actually going as far as uninstalling it completely just to focus on the new game. And let’s just say, they’re definitely not alone. Many players are saying the same thing and even commenting:

Destiny lost its identity. I'll still come back for PvP here and there. Gotta finish my 3 comp matches before the week is over, but then back to Dune for my actual looting and exploring.

Destiny 2 is a bit different since it’s not a survival MMORPG like Dune: Awakening, but I get what they mean. Destiny 2 started out strong, but over time it feels like it’s been mismanaged, with the story quality dropping and microtransactions taking over. The core gameplay is still fun, but Bungie seems to care more about monetization than community trust, often fixing store problems quicker than major game-breaking bugs.

Dune: Awakening, on the other hand, looks like a really immersive game with a world that feels rich and real. It sounds like it’s got a solid foundation, lots of depth, and a steep learning curve that makes it tough but rewarding. I just hope it’s not one of those games where the first impression wears off fast.

Been with gamepressure.computercrack.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or iring my collection of retro consoles.
