New star of Kickstarter, Ashes of Creation, is a sandbox MMO with player-built cities
Players are crazy about Ashes of Creation, an ambitious MMO, which has been crowdfunded on Kickstarter withing several hours. Find out why.
You may never have heard of Intrepid Studios, but the popularity of their new project is definitely worth attention. Ashes of Creation, a sanbox MMO game featuring player-built cities and economies, has been instantly funded on Kickstarter – fans have pledged well over $800,000 within several hours since the start of the campaign, which already tops the basic funding goal of $750,000.
What made players so crazy about Ashes of Creation? The game developers promise total freedom when it comes to creating and progressing not only your character but also entire in-game civilizations – players can build their own houses and cities, make politics and economies, start alliances and wage wars against rivals. The world changes over time (an example of which are changing seasons) and reacts to what the players do. Who is friend and who is foe as well as the shape and history of the world depend not on the developers but on players themselves.
Intrepid Studios, the team behind Ashes of Creation, is made up of people who gained their experience making MMOs like XCOM: Enemy Within. If they are successful, they plan to deliver their next game to PC in late 2018. Visit the official website for more information.
