Elden Ring PC has Trouble With Cloud Save Files but is Madly Popular on Steam
Elden Ring has a minor issue with saving game progress in the cloud on PC. However, that didn't stop FromSoftware's hit from being among the top in of player activity.

Elden Ring PC's save data problem
The problem only occurs under certain conditions, so it is possible that you have not encountered it yet. I, in twenty-seven hours of play, encountered it once. In a nutshell: sometimes, for some reason, the game saves progress only locally - on the disk - and the "save file" in the cloud (if the appropriate option is enabled) remains unaffected.
As a result, the next time you run Elden Ring, you get a message about the incompatibility of saves file data. You can then choose whether to the data to the cloud from your hard drive or files located on the server. To save any progress you've made, choose the option that has a more recent date and/or time next to it.
How to protect yourself from losing your progress in Elden Ring on PC?
The problem seems minor, and what's more, FromSoftware is aware of it and working on a solution. However, the developer recommends that you back up your game files regularly. These can be found at:
C:\Your_name\AppData\Elden Ring\folder_with_the_draw_digit.

As a reminder, problems with the game not saving properly were present also on PlayStation 5. One of the previous patches eliminated them, but the solution suggested by FromSoftware at the time - to close the app through the menu, which results in the save file being overwritten - may reduce the occurrence of the bug described in this news also on PC.
