The Washington Post reported a few hours ago that the Entertainment Software Association (ESA for short), responsible for organizing the event, plans that next year's edition of the event will be held both online and in physical form.
ESA CEO comments
ESA president, Stan Pierre-Louis, had a comment about next year's E3 (0:53 in the video below):
"We are excited to be back in 2023, both in digital and in-person event(...).
While we love digital events and want to reach as many gamers as possible from around the globe, we also know that some want to meet face-to-face. That way they can see each other and talk about what makes video games great."
Previous E3 editions
Last year, the E3 trade show took place online exclusively, and an earlier edition did not take place at all. The reason was the COVID-19 pandemic.
