Action-packed RPG Beast of Reincarnation is a brand new game from the Pokemon creators

Not Pokémon, but the arcade action game Beast of Reincarnation is the next project of the Game Freak studio. The title was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025.

The action RPG Beast of Reincarnation is a new game from the devs of the Pokemon series, and it is radically different from the turn-based fights we are used to.

Rumors have been going around for a while that GameFreak studio is finally planning to show the world something other than another game with pocket monsters. These rumors were confirmed at today's Xbox Games Showcase 2025, during which the gameplay trailer for Beast of Reincarnation was presented. You can watch it below.

The game has little in common with Game Freak studio's flagship series. BoR will be an action RPG with realistic graphics, in which we will play as Emma, a warrior wielding a katana, whose destiny is to defeat the titular beast of reincarnation with the help of a "dog" companion in the post-apocalyptic future of 4026, in which humanity is threatened with extinction. The title reminds me of Studio Ghibli animations, but with a touch of realism.

So far, not many details have been provided, but the first materials suggest gameplay similar to titles from the soulslike subgenre. Whether the game will actually go in this direction, we will find out when the Game Freak team provides more info.

Beast of Reincarnation is coming to Xbox Series X/S and PC, as well as to Microsoft's cloud gaming service and Xbox Game . The launch will take place in 2026.
