A remastered version of an action RPG YS: The Oath in Felghana. Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana tells the story of Adol Christin, traversing the land of Felghana to restore it to greatness along with his friend Dogi.
Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana is a remastered version of Ys: The Oath in Felghana, an action RPG from 2005, which itself was a remake of Ys III: Wanderers From Ys from 1989. The game was developed by Falcom, the company overseeing the franchise.
The main character of Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana is Adol Christin, who returns to the eponymous Felghana accompanied by his friend Dogi, arriving to the village of Redmont. As it turns out, the place has changed beyond recognition during their absense. Monsters prowl the land, the nearby volcano is once again active, with the realm itself being oppressed by a tyrant. Adol and Dogi have no choice but to get to work and restore Felghana to its former glory.
The gameplay in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana is shown from the top-down perspective. The player traverses the world, completes various quests and often battles enemies. Combat is dynamic, the key to success being constant movement, skillful use of special attacks and executing combos effectively. In addition to regular foes we'll also face powerful bosses. Progressing lets us develop our character, his new abilities letting him face greater challenges and reach previously inaccessible places.
During their work on Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana, the developers mostly focused on the game's audiovisual side. The graphics have been improved, the characters received new portraits, the main protagonist's voice lines have been voiced and the soundtrack is now of a higher quality. In addition, the player can now choose the playable character's speed.

Game Ratings for Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana Video Game.
Rectify Gaming: 9 / 10 by Michael Merchant
Ys Memoire: The Oath of Felghana is an excellent experience. It is easy to see why so many rate this as one of the best Ys games of the series. There is a lot to enjoy through the game with multiple tiers of difficulty, and challenging boss fights, and it is rather streamlined. Unlike the later entries which tend to be around 30+ hours, Oath is around 10-11 hours on normal difficulty which actually felt like the perfect amount of time for this type of game. Long enough to be engaging and provide new aspects to the game without overstaying its welcome and feeling repetitive.

It has all the basic ingredients you need, without any of the extra spices. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s comforting. It wants you to sit back and enjoy the experience, savouring every drop of its familiar flavour.

I know from all of this it sounds like I don’t care much for Ys: The Oath in Felghana, but that’s not really the case. It firmly exists within the Ys series, and just as last year brought us that magnificent remake of Dragon Quest III, here’s an old-timey classic within the action JRPG genre for the people who appreciate it. Not everything needs to be deep and meaningful, and Felghana certainly isn’t that. But it’s easy to appreciate its place within one of the longest-running and most enduring JRPG properties of all time.
