Release Date: May 15, 2018
A fast-paced dungeon crawler game with roguelike traits. The title focuses on using spells. Wizard of Legend was developed by the independent studio Contingent99.
Wizard of Legend is a two-dimensional action game with roguelike traits. The game takes place in a fantasy world. The players are controlling a wizard that can use a variety of dangerous combat spells. The title was developed by an independent studio from California, Contingent99.
Each year, the Council of Magic in the Kingdom of Lanova is holding the Chaos Trials that determine who is the strongest of mages. The reward for dealing with all the challenges is the title of the Wizard of Legend.
The action in Wizard of Legend is presented from a top-down perspective. The players must complete quests and fight enemies. The combat system requires high agility and precision – the players must learn how to avoid attacks of specific types of enemies and how to counter them with their own spells. Thanks to the random-generated levels, each playthrough is slightly different.
The players can use more than one hundred spells that cause various effects. Proper selection and finding the right moment to use the spells is one of the keys to victory. The spells can be also combined into powerful combos.
Wizard of Legend can be played alone or with another person in a local cooperation mode (it also features an option for two players to fight against each other).
Wizard of Legend features nice looking, two-dimensional retro graphics. Character and monster designs reference classic games from the nineties’, but the models are better animated. Spells animations are looking nice as well.

PlayStation LifeStyle: 7.5 / 10 by Paulmichael Contreras
Wizard of Legend has a certain charm that many roguelike fans will fall for. With 144 relics to find, and almost as many arcana, the staggering number of potential combat combinations is impressive. The procedurally-generated levels mean no two playthroughs are the same, however, options for replaying a particularly cool layout are slim. Some people may not like the difficulty level, but then again roguelikes are often tough for a reason, to keep players coming back to prove themselves. It may be a bit repetitive in spots, but for those looking to challenge themselves, Wizard of Legend is the latest roguelike to pick up, and for only $15.99 to boot ($14.39 for PS Plus ).

At the end of the day, I couldn't quite become the Avatar I wanted, choosing only to specialize in lightning and air spells, and zapping my enemies to death. Still, Wizard of Legend succeeds in creating a setting that's just full of so much mystery and awe.
GameSpace: 8 / 10 by William Murphy
There are so many great indie roguelites that it's almost becoming obscene. But that doesn't change the fact that Wizard of Legend is simply great fun, with an awesome couch co-op mode, and loads of replay value. Its difficulty can spike at odd times, and some spells seem utterly useless. But beyond that, there's just a lot of fireball hurling mayhem to be had as you try to the trials.
