We Were Here Forever is another part of Total Mayhem Games studio adventures of nameless heroes trying to get out of closed complexes. This time these are chilling locations from the Castle Rock dimension. Not knowing whether it's us who made a mistake or were cheated, together with a partner we look for a way out.

Game mechanics

We Were Here Forever doesn't differ from the previous parts of the series. Once again, we observe the action from a first-person perspective and explore locations prepared by the developers, encountering a number of riddles and puzzles, which we are able to solve only in cooperation with another player. Communication plays a key role here, because although we can't see our companion or what's in his close vicinity, we communicate with him by voice through a walkie-talkie. Giving information and tips appropriately and understanding them is the biggest difficulty here.

May Was a Good Month for New Games on Steam

May abounded in successful launches on Steam. In addition to the hit game V Rising, My Time at Sandrock, We Were Here Forever, Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters, Songs of Conquest and Little Witch in the Woods did very well.

DarkZero: 8 / 10 by Dominic Sheard

This review is for We Were Here Forever, though, and with that in mind it should be noted that there are not many games like this, ones that rely on communication and asymmetrical puzzle solving.

GamingTrend: 65 / 100 by Ben Lombardo

We Were Here Forever is a step back from the rest of the series. It's hard to find the motivation to keep playing when you're completing the same puzzle three, sometimes four times. Quantity doesn't mean quality, and when you're in control of a unique genre like coop puzzlers you don't want to step on the quality of what made this series great. Plus, the lack of a compelling story is disappointing when it's the only thing that's meant to encourage you to keep playing.

TheSixthAxis: 7 / 10 by Stefan L

We Were Here Forever certainly grew on us the more we played, with some great brain-teasing puzzles that really make the most of the split player perspectives (though we did give up on the walkie-talkies).
