An old-school tactical jRPG. Unicorn Overlord has us playing as a former heir of the throne, traversing a fantasy world and gathering allies to reclaim their birthright.
Unicorn Overlord is an old-school tactical jRPG. It was co-developed by Atlus and Vanillaware, known for such games as Dragon's Crown.
Unicorn Overlord is set in a fantasy world. We play as a former heir to the throne, deprived of their heritage. They must traverse the realm and gather allies to reclaim what's rightfully theirs.
Unicorn Overlord is a top-down tactical game, during which we must traverse the world, meet its inhabitants and complete quests. Durng our quest, we'll gather allies who'll us in our battle for the throne. We'll recruit humans, elves, mighty beasts, celestials and many others.
Combat is a major part of the game. Battles are turn-based, requiring tactical sense and skillful use of our characters' abilities.
Unicorn Overlord features colorful, appealing visuals, retaining Vanillaware's distinctive artstyle.

Game Ratings for Unicorn Overlord Video Game.
GameSpot: 8 / 10 by Heidi Kemps
Despite an uninspired narrative, Unicorn Overlord impresses with gorgeous visuals and engrossing strategy action.
Eurogamer: 4 / 5 by Kaan Serin
Vanillaware's beautiful art brings to life a staggeringly deep strategy RPG where building units is just as fun as orchestrating battles.
Game Informer: 8.5 / 10 by Matt Miller
Even acknowledging those frustrations, I love the variety of encounters Unicorn Overlord presents and the seamless way so many interlocking game systems contribute to an overarching saga of magic and warfare. From beginning to end, the game feels crafted, balanced, and deep, without sacrificing approachability. Set aside preconceptions from the unusual name, and you’ll find an epic well worth exploring.
