Hybrid RPG and a puzzle game in which the player travels through a fantastic land and confronts various opponents. The success of his actions is determined by the results he gains by moving pieces of the puzzle across a two-dimensional board and combining squares of the same color - this is how he deals damage to enemies, heals a fighting character and opens the chests he encounters along the way.
Tiles & Tales is a hybrid of RPG and logic game, developed by Trilith Entertainment. The game was released in free-to-play model.
In Tiles & Tales, the story layer does not play a particularly important role. The title takes the players to the fantasy land of Zanir, which they explore in the skin of one of the four characters; we can play as: the villain Igua, the knight Rumford, the sorceress Lilly and the prince Gareth. The task for the heroes is to save the kingdom from the danger of the evil Norbolds.
Tiles & Tales starts with choosing a character - each of the available heroes offers unique abilities and special attacks, which they use on the battlefield. During the game, the screen is divided into two parts. While the protagonist is seen from a side perspective at the top, a two-dimensional map filled with coloured squares is placed at the bottom.
The game is based on a diagram reminiscent of match-3 games - by moving fragments of the puzzle on the board, we combine tiles of the same color in one line, which translates into the success of the actions taken by the protagonist. Green squares heal our character, violet ones are used to open locks, while red ones, to attack enemies. Overcoming an adversary or opening a specific box requires the use of a plate described with a value higher than the opponent's health or the complexity of the lock. In the course of the adventure, a bit of tactic is useful - using a given fragment causes it to disappear from the board irretrievably; squares with more powerful effect of action should be saved, for example, for battles against powerful bosses.
It should also be ed that the completion of a given stage requires the acquisition of a specific number of blue tiles. Rebirth after a defeat costs a certain number of special diamonds, which we get during our adventure or buy for real cash; they can also be exchanged for useful power-ups, among others.
The game does not lack RPG elements - we develop the character, advance to the subsequent levels of experience and strengthen individual combat skills; we also collect weapons (the arsenal of melee weapons includes swords, hammers and axes, which we craft using steel acquired during the game), treasures and special rewards.
Tiles & Tales introduces an extensive tutorial for the game. The main game mode is the Unlimited Adventure mode, where we face new challenges - it is complemented by daily and weekly missions guaranteeing access to unique prizes. The production uses a cross-save function - the gameplay started via Facebook can be continued on various devices.
Tiles & Tales is characterized by eye-catching, two-dimensional visuals, adopting a cartoonish style - accompanied by a nice soundtrack.
