An action platformer metroidvania. The Last Faith stars Eric, traversing a dangerous gothic city, trying to learn the truth about an ancient prophecy and the corruption consuming the land.
The Last Faith is an indie action platformer metroidvania. It was developed by Kumi Souls Games and crowdfunded on Kickstarter.
The Last Faith is set in a dark fantasy world, in the gothic city of Mythringal, the capital of a mighty kingdom. The city suffered a devastating civil war and a plague that almost destroyed it. The reigning religious cult has left the inhabitants behind to their fate, though not all is yet lost. The protagonist, amnesiac Eric, starts searching for answers regarding an ancient prophecy and gets involved in a massive intrigue, gradually learning the truth about the corruption consuming the world.
The Last Faith is a side-scroller. The player traverses vast, diverse areas, ranging from mighty citadels, palaces and temples to dark dungeons. The areas are interconnected, forming a maze-like world map, access to some of them being barred until we acquire specific abilities or equipment. While exploring, we'll need to solve environmental puzzles and face monsters of all sorts - walking ones, flying ones, crawling ones. The enemies range from common mooks to much more powerful bosses, who are larger, stronger and more resilient.
Combat is a major part of the game. We must be quick, agile, time our dodges and counters, making good use of Eric's equipment and abilities. The protagonist wields melee weapons and firearms (used to stagger enemies), as well as powerful magic. Our gear can also be enhanced by infusing it with elemental powers (such as Diamond Dust, which adds a brief freeze effect to our attacks).
The Last Faith features high-quality pixel art visuals and a dark color palette. The gothic locations and nightmarish enemies are all very appealing.

Game Ratings for The Last Faith Video Game.
GameCrate: 7 / 10 by Matt Berry
I really think that if the developers continue to work on The Last Faith and fix some of the issues I mentioned earlier with the button layouts, weapon glitches, and other weird bugs they can get the game up to a much higher quality. I still found it to be good fun overall even though it’s not really bringing anything new to the table in the world of Metroidvanias.
Digital Chumps: 8.5 / 10 by Will Silberman
The Last Faith is a grueling metroidvania, leaning into pinnacle souls-like gameplay elements that reward exploration, precision, and patience. Its combat may be simple and fun, but the challenge of mastering its traversal may be too much to handle. Its gorgeous visuals might not be distinct enough to separate itself from the pack of its predecessors, but it's a great start for those wanting to test the waters of the souls genre.
Checkpoint Gaming: 7 / 10 by Tom Quirk
Despite many issues dragging down the experience, I would not say that I had a bad time overall with The Last Faith. The combat is genuinely thrilling and impressively varied when it functions well, and I was impressed with many of the game's locations, boss fights, puzzles and enemy designs. However, The Last Faith feels like a particularly inelegant mixture of many different elements from popular Metroidvanias and Soulslikes without quite executing them as neatly. With its obtuse-for-the-sake-of-it narrative, occasionally stodgy combat and platforming elements and a lack of its own identity, Metroidvania fans will have an enjoyable enough time with The Last Faith, but there are better examples of what it has attempted to execute out there.
