The Crew: Calling All Units for PC, PS4 and XONE is the second expansion for The Crew, the MMO racing game released in 2014; the game is set an open world, emulating the whole United States. Like the base game, the expansion was developed by Ivory Tower, which belongs to Ubisoft.

Mechanics

The Calling All Units expansion allows you play on the side of the police. In the new side-campaign (which consists of 12 missions) you can unlock previously unavailable vehicles and mod them into police cars.

You can also participate in pursuits, which can involve other players. In contrast to the pursuits featured in the base game, the participants can now use special gadgets and abilities. For example, the policemen can use EMP charges and call for air , while their “prey” can use flash grenades and infinite nitro.

God is a Geek: 5 / 10 by Gary Bailey

Calling All Units is a fairly basic expansion to The Crew, offering very little in the way of content. But its new PvP chases help turn it into the MMO it was originally meant to be.

Rocket Chainsaw: 2 / 5 by Andrew Cathie

Even if you’re a fan of The Crew, I highly suggest just playing the free parts of The Crew: Calling All Units unless you absolutely cannot do without a shiny new police car.

Digitally ed: 2.5 / 5

Calling All Units doesn’t set out to do anything new, it’s pretty much an online only version of Need for Speed: Pursuit. The new mechanics of chasing down others online with a group of others is indeed fun, and for the most part the online does work. The story does nothing exciting whatsoever, but it does teach the new mechanics and how they work. Fans of The Crew will likely get something out of this, but it's not nearly enough to turn The Crew into an essential game, either.
