Mechanics

Unlike most episodic adventure games, the PC, PS4 and XONE release of The Council features quite elaborate gameplay mechanics and (apart from exploration and dialogues) offers multiple logical challenges. The most important element of the game is the system of fifteen abilities, most of which are focused on different fields (e.g. history, science, occult) and talents revolving around interpersonal relations.

The main protagonist's skills help you solve diversified puzzles and shape the interactions with other characters affecting the later stages of the story. Each one out of the fifteen talents can be developed in order to gain access to new possibilities. The game features also the decision system – each decision has certain consequences that affect how other characters perceive the main protagonist and both his physical and mental health. Luis de Richet can also be injured – this does not bring the adventure to an end, however, players have to change their strategy in completing their objective.
