Symphonia is a platformer tasking us with saving a musical world. It was developed by an indie studio Sunny Peak and published by Headup Publishing.
Symphonia is set in a fantasy world, powered and made alive through the power of music. When its founders and its orchestra vanish, the world falls silent. We play as a violinist Philemon, heading out on a journey to gather a new orchestra and restore life to the collapsing world.
Symphonia is a side-scroller. The players must traverse diverse, colorful, atmospheric stages. On our way, we must jump across platforms, avoid traps and obstacles. Our violin comes in handy during exploration and activating musical machinery, restoring life and energy to the world. Along the way we'll meet numerous NPCs, many of which are great musicians; it's up to us to convince them to our orchestra.
Symphonia features colorful, cartoonish graphics. One of the game's greatest strengths is its soundtrack, composed by Olivier Esman and performed by the Scoring Orchestra of Paris.

Symphonia is a pretty straightforward precision platformer. Its short length is really the only big drawback here as the rest of the game is an absolute delight to play through. The orchestral soundtrack is excellent, the visuals look great, and the levels designed in such a meticulous and imaginative way that you’ll find yourself having heaps of fun with this – even in the challenging sections where you’ll die repeatedly.

Symphonia is a sleeper hit that I can only hope will soon take the platforming genre by storm. The platforming mechanics here are refined, satisfying, and a joy to master. Which is only accented by the incredible art direction that serves as eye candy as you go. This symphonic-inspired world is a treat for the eyes and ears, with level design that walks the tightrope between challenging and satisfying with aplomb. And while the narrative present here hits a bum note, I can wholeheartedly recommend Symphonia to any platforming fanatic.
