A realistic survival game created by a debuting Australian studio Beam Team Games. The player assumes the role of a plane crash survivor who struggles to remain alive on one of the uninhabited islands of the Pacific. Unlike most games of this genre, this production is focused not only on the exploration of the island itself, but it also encomes the ocean floor around it. Both areas are randomly generated before each game.

Stranded Deep for PC is the first production from Beam Team Games – an Australian studio, which consists out of merely two programmers. The developers claim that they have created a perfected, realistic, and challenging survival system for their debut title.

In Stranded Deep we play the role of a sole plane crash survivor, who is desperately trying to stay alive on one of the uninhabited isles on the Pacific Ocean. To delay the unavoidable we are forced to carefully manage our limited resources, which need to be acquired either by exploring the vast and rich, but dangerous, underwater world or by scavenging whatever we can find on the island itself. The developers have made it extremely difficult to get to know the precise layout of the surrounding region, as the island changes with each playthrough.

Marooners' Rock: 7.2 / 10 by Matthew Hlady

Stranded Deep has borderline wretched controls and has some crafting and survival mechanics that make the boy scout and backpacker in me furrow my brow in confusion. That being said, the game is fun and exceptionally rewarding!

I've pretty much always had a love/hate relationship with the survival genre, though it may not be what you think...
