An isometric science fiction adventure game created by a South African indie developer The Brotherhood Games. The game is set in an abandoned research facility, where the main hero, John Maracheck, wakes up. Throughout the game the protagonist has to discover what happened in the facility and find his relatives. Easy to guess, seemingly empty laboratory hides loads of traps and dangers.
Stasis is an isometric adventure dark science fiction game developed by a small team from South Africa.
In Stasis, we assume the role of John Maracheck who wakes up in his room in a research facility. The problem is that his family is gone and there is nobody to be found around. The only sign of “life” are flickering monitors and working computers. The protagonist has to find out what happened in this place and find his loved ones. It is no easy task, though, because the laboratory hides many mysteries and dangers.
At the first glance, Stasis seems to be a typical adventure game – the player traverses subsequent locations, searches for items and solves puzzles. The developers introduced a few curious elements, however. The first one is isometric view, which is rather unseen in the genre. The second one: the protagonist can die.
Stasis boasts really nice graphics and an interesting level design. The whole is decorated in rather cool tones to boost the feeling of seclusion. During the game, we are accompanied by a specific, toned down music, which adds to the atmosphere of isolation and emptiness.
Creators of Stasis have just released their new game for free and put another one on Kickstarter. The former is a horror game called Cayne and the other a post-apocalyptic adventure Beautiful Desolation.

Adventure
A completely free, standalone expansion for Stasis – a dark science-fiction adventure game released in 2015. The plot of Cayne references the base game in a number of ways, but without spoiling it, so players new to the series can also experience the title in full. Story introduces a pregnant woman named Hadle, who wakes up in an obscure medical facility, where unknown men want to take her baby away. As can easily be imagined, the player’s objective is to make sure that this doesn’t happen. The gameplay is exactly the same as in Stasis, so we are looking at a classic adventure game, seen from an isometric view. During the campaign, designed to last for roughly 1.5 hour, we are mainly occupied with exploration of new locations and searching for items, which are necessary to solve the problems turning up along the way. From the audio-visual side, the game relies on the same, albeit beefed up, visuals. Nonetheless, Cayne has a completely new soundtrack, composed by Ivo Sadiski.
