Sonic Boom for WiiU and 3DS brings a breath of fresh air to a veteran franchise starring the eponymous hedgehog, who's also a character in the 52 episodes in the Cartoon Network animated series. The game is a classic platformer, in which the characters move around the maps with incredible speed, developed by Sanzaru Games. Sonic Boom is the third title in the SEGA catalogue, created as a result of a long-term agreement with Nintendo; the other two games were Sonic: Lost World and Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

Mechanics

The character design in Sonic Boom is slightly different from their older incarnations to fit their unique abilities. The protagonists are the well-known characters of the franchise: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy Rose. They encounter an ancient, newly-discovered land, where they face new dangers. The developers introduced new elements to the game's mechanics, putting more emphasis more on the exploration and combat aspects.
