Skeleton Crew is a humorous action-packed 2D adventure game, allowing us to enjoy the gameplay solo or in a group of people. Production features an interesting graphical style, and it was developed by Cinder Cone. You can also test a free demo.

Plot

The plot of Skeleton Crew is set in a fictional world of Karpathia, where legions of chaos monsters hunt the few remaining humans. As the Y.E.E.T. (Yeoman Eldritch Extermination Team), made up of various fantastic creatures, we will stand against the beasts. The narrative is kept in a humorous tone, and the key to success is kicking everything - skulls, demons, friends and... chickens.

The Y.E.E.T. team is formed by twelve characters. Four heroes lead the way among them: Elgar, the Black Knight equipped with armor so strong that it protects him not only from monsters but also from his insecurities, Byron, the Devil Hunter with a good heart and a sense that he will go to hell when he dies, Yvaine, the White Witch loner, and Lila, the Night Elf who has signed a chirograph to get her enslaved people out of hell.

Mechanics

Skeleton Crew gameplay borrows a lot from 2D platform games and dungeon-crawlers. Available maps demand from us a skillful jump over terrain obstacles and the ability to quickly eliminate rivals. We can use light and heavy strikes, special skills (to perform which we need a certain amount of mana) and also pick up found objects (such as bombs or pieces of equipment from defeated enemies) to throw them at subsequent opponents or destroy barriers that stand in our way. Additionally, each of the characters has their own unique abilities with special tactical use.

Unlocking some areas is connected with the need to solve environmental puzzles, based mainly on the mechanics of digging everything that stands in our way. During the exploration we collect various useful items, allowing us to regenerate mana or life. For defeated enemies we get experience points and gold coins, which we then use to improve our character's stats.

The game constantly counts how long we explore the area and gives us only a few lives. In between the dungeons we always go to the base of Y.E.E.T. group, where we choose which level we want to explore now and which character we'll play as, upgrade selected characters or go to the market, where we buy better equipment.
