Sengoku Basara Collection HD is a compilation of the first three editions of the Sengoku Basara series, which have been adapted to operate at high resolutions on PlayStation 3. The series was created by Capcom, Japan. The collection includes games by Sengoku Basara (PlayStation 2, 2005), Sengoku Basara 2 (PlayStation 2, 2006) and Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes (Wii, 2007). Only the first part was released in the West, under the changed title Devil Kings. In this version, however, it was heavily modified and rejected many important elements of the series, taking the action to the fantasy world and combining it with the Devil May Cry series.

The plot of the titles was loosely based on the history of Japan, and more specifically on the more than 100-year-long period of Sengoku, in which many feudal rulers fought against each other for domination over the country. The heroes of the title are real-life characters who play key roles in the course of civil war. However, their appearance and character traits fell victim to a huge fantasy of the creators. The scenario of all games is therefore full of comic and exaggerated action and events rubbing against a parody, which are characteristic of the production from the Land of the Cherry Blossom. It is worth mentioning that Sengoku Basara enjoys great popularity in its homeland, especially among the female part of the audience, mainly due to the almost exclusively male cast. Over the years, the games have been adapted in the form of comic books, feature films, animated series, as well as theatrical and musical performances.
