The story is known to many different duos (Zwirek and Muchomorek, Starsky and Hutch, Don Quixote and Sancho Pansa, etc.), but for the electronic entertainment market one of the most important is a tandem of independent policemen - a Sam dog dressed in a suit and a crazy white rabbit Max. This remarkable couple first appeared in virtual reality in 1993, thanks to LucasArts and its game Sam & Max Hit the Road. This position was based on a series of comics by Steve Purcell, which began in the penultimate decade of the 20th century.

Sam & Max Freelance Police is nothing more than a sequel to Sam & Max Hit the Road and similarly to this title representing the adventure genre. Developers from George Lucas also implemented simple arcade elements of the kind known from Sam & Max Hit the Road, stunning rats with a wooden hammer. Of course, Freelance Police does not lack a monstrous dose of specific black humor in the form of situational and verbal comedy.
