Mechanics

Rune Factory 3 Special makes use of the top-down perspective. The player must traverse the world, get to know its inhabitants, establish relationships and complete various quests for them. The land is war-torn, and there's plenty of combat to be had. Micah can wield melee weapons, magic and transform into a monster, granting him a new moveset. He can also recruit other humans and monsters, summoning them to battle.

Most of our downtime will be spent on our farm. Micah can farm, fish and seek love. Having found a love interest, continuous romantic interactions may eventually lead to marriage and children.

Technical aspects

Compared to the original game, Rune Factory 3 Special features thoroughly revamped visuals. The 3D character models and 2D backgrounds have all been updated. The game's artstyle is colorful and cartoonish.
