TPP action RPG with roguelike and card game elements. In Ravenbound, we explore the fantastic land of Avalt as warriors who are the incarnations of Raven, a being created by the gods, who gradually gather strength for the final confrontation with the sinister Traitor.
Ravenbound is an action RPG with roguelike and card games elements. It was developed by Systemic Reaction studio - a development team belonging to Avalanche Studios Group, whose portfolio includes the games Generation Zero.
Ravenbound takes us on a journey to the fantastic land of Avalt. Wanting to protect it from the sinister Traitor, the ancient deities created Ravenbound, who will one day face the forces of darkness and defeat them once and for all. Before that can happen, however, he will have to gather his strength, taking on more warriors called Vessels. We take control of such heroes and traverse Avalt, and when we fall, our efforts are not in vain, as the knowledge and experience we gain are ed on to the next incarnation of Raven.
In Ravenbound, we observe the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). We can explore the vast and diverse world. We move through it on foot or in the air (after turning into a Raven), choosing the destination of our next expeditions and the challenges we want to take on. Our ultimate goal is to make Raven strong enough to complete the task assigned to him and deal with the Traitor.
Avalt, though picturesque, is full of dangers, so fighting enemies is the daily bread here. We fight draugr, trolls, huldra demons and other creatures native to Scandinavian folklore, making use of cold weapons and magic. The battles are dynamic, and we have to be in constant motion to perform quick evasions and launch lightning-fast counterattacks.
No matter how well we do on the battlefield, sooner or later we are bound to die. Death here is permanent, and when we fall, another fighter takes our place. Before embarking on an adventure in his skin, we select cards that give us access to increasingly better equipment, combat skills and spells.
Ravenbound boasts colorful and clear graphics, which are kept in a slightly cartoonish style. The whole game is detailed and pleasing to the eye; both the diverse locations and enemy designs are appealing.

Game Ratings for Ravenbound Video Game.
CGMagazine: 4 / 10 by Steven Green
Ravenbound mixes some great ideas and beautiful scenery to intrigue the player, but fails to come through on many of the promises made.
ACG: by Jeremy Penter
"Ravenbound has all the elements of an excellent roguelite but they never come together."
TheSixthAxis: 7 / 10 by Dominic Leighton
Ravenbound is a striking Scandinavian fantasy, and one that's often a delight to experience. However, this particular open world can often feel too empty and lifeless, relying on a player's thorough involvement in its collection of gameplay ideas to stay engaged.
