Q.U.B.E. 2 is a sequel to a logic game released in 2012 developed by the Welsh Toxic Games. The game challenges players with exiting a building constructed of monochromatic cubes filled with puzzles. The previous installment was initially developed as a university degree project, however, the idea turned out to be so original that the creators decided to improve their work and release it on Steam with the help of Indie Fund organization. The second installment described herein develops further the ideas from its predecessor and includes an interesting storyline (similar to Q.U.B.E. Director’s Cut released on PS4 and Xbox One in 2015).

Plot

Q.U.B.E. 2 for PC, PS4 and XONE tells the story of a British archeologist by the name Amelia Cross who wakes up in a weird place constructed out of cubes and seems to be located on an alien planet. Together with her companion – Emma – Amelia tries to solve the mystery of the unusual location, survive, and find the way back home. During the game, players get to learn details from both Amelia’s and Emma’s backstory. The story was written by Benjamin Hill, known for working on Ether One.

With a serious tone, and a drama laden cast, Q.U.B.E. 2 is simply a cerebral experience. You'll be able to sit down, calm your nerves, and look at things from a different perspective, if only for the time it takes to master a sliding Q.U.B.E. jump.

Nintendo Life: 8 / 10 by Jon Mundy

Q.U.B.E. 2 is an accomplished first-person physics puzzler that learns a number of wise lessons from Portal in of mechanics and world building. The puzzles are smartly executed with a well-judged learning curve, while the story adds a welcome dose of context and intrigue to proceedings. Well-travelled gamers will instantly recognise its influences, but there's nothing else quite like Q.U.B.E. 2 on Switch.
