Populous, DS is a refurbished version of the product with the same name, created by Bullfrog in 1989. The console version was produced by a well-known British artist Peter Molyneux (co-founder of Black & White or Dungeon Keeper, among others). The console version is produced by EA Japan, a Japanese branch of Electronic Arts.

This game is a strategy one in which we assume the role of a god ruling over his people. Our main goal is to expand the territory of the tribe we rule and conquering other ones. To do so, we have to develop our village, taking over the uninhabited lands, and constant expansion to the hostile territory. As gods, we have characteristic powers and our disposal which create powerful elements, causing havoc in the hostile territory. Such cataclysms include earth quakes, floods, Armageddon, and swamps swallowing buildings. Populous offers a tutorial to all the beginners. Thanks to this, they will quickly accommodate to the rules and realities of the in-game world.
The graphics are very modest. The developers resigned from enhancing this element, so Populous visually looks ascetic. The maps, on which the struggle takes place, take us to different environments. Populous also offers a multiplayer mode, thanks to which we may play against three players through Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
