Pharaoh Expansion Pack
Release Date: July 28, 2000
An official expansion for the Pharaoh game, a cult economic strategy by Impressions Games and Sierra Entertainment, once again set in the ancient Egypt. This time, as the title Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile implies, the expansion takes place in a slightly later period, during the rule of Queen Cleopatra, the most famous woman in the history of Egypt.
Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile is a stand-alone expansion to the economic strategy Pharaoh from 1999. It was developed by BreakAway Games and published by Sierra.
Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile continues the story of Pharaoh, depicting later history of Egypt. The game takes place in 1490 BC - 35 AD. Once more, the player takes on the role of a town manager, carrying out imposed tasks and ri in the national hierarchy.
In of mechanics, Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile expands the ideas first shown in Pharaoh. Once again, the game is an isometric city builder tasking the player with expanding their city in a sustainable way. The expansion introduces a number of new buildings (and monuments, such as the Library of Alexandria) and new mechanics that make the experience overall more challenging.
In the expansion, our cities can be struck by natural disasters such as locust plagues and hailstorms. These can strike at any time, causing heavy damage.
Yet another complication are grave robbers. Treasures found in the monuments built by the player draw the eye of criminals. We need to set up enough police stations nearby to prevent robbery.
Some missions are also time limited. They come with a special counter, specifying how long we have to meet our objectives.
Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile is a stand-alone expansion and doesn't require the base game to function.
