Offworld Trading Company: The Europa Wager

Offworld Trading Company: The Europa Wager is the second major expansion for the warmly-received economic game from Mohawk Games. The base game gives us control over a corporation trying to develop a profitable business on Mars. In the latest supplement, the devs decided to continue exploring the moons of Jupiter - after the volcanic Io, which was the subject of the first large DLC, comes the time for the cold Europa.

Mechanics

Offworld Trading Company: The Europa Wager retains the mechanics known from the main game. We continue to lead a corporation whose goal is to maximize profits and outsmart competition.

The game gives us one big task - making money. We do this by extracting resources, which we then turn into commodities and, as a result, into profits from trade. The Europa Wager brings new materials and buildings with it. The game is enriched with two additional resources: magnesium and methane. They are also accompanied by previously unavailable structures: gas and hydrothermal power plants, which offer more efficient methods of energy generation. However, the expansion also brings with it unprecedented challenges, such as the lack of natural aluminium on Europa.
