Mystic Pillars is a hybrid of puzzle game and visual novel in which we look for a way to stop the drought that plagues the once great kingdom. As we play, we solve the puzzles of moving jewels between the pillars.
Mystic Pillars combines elements of puzzle games and visual novelty items. The game was developed by the independent Indian team Holy Cow Productions. The game is also known as Mystic Pillars: A Story-Based Puzzle Game.
The main character of Mystic Pillars is a mysterious traveler who reaches the drought-stricken fantastic kingdom of Zampi. The main character's task is to stop this cataclysm by destroying the pillars that block access to water. By the way, our hero discovers what really put Zampi on the verge of a complete fall.
In Mystic Pillars the action was shown in an isometric view. During the game we have to solve a hundred puzzles presented on the world map as columns blocking water in a river flowing through the kingdom. Puzzles consist in moving magic gems between connected pillars; we have to do it in such a way that there is a certain number of stones on each of the columns. The problem is complicated by the fact that in each of the puzzles we have a limited number of moves, and if we run out of them before solving the problem, we have to start the challenge again. Between puzzles, we follow the course of story by watching animated videos and having conversations with the residents of Zampi.
The two-dimensional graphics of Mystic Pillars is hand-drawn and look pleasing to the eye. It is also worth mentioning the calm music that helps to solve mathematical problems.

Game Ratings for Mystic Pillars Video Game.
GameGrin: 8 / 10 by Gary Sheppard
A short but original puzzle game that comes as a low enough price that the lack of length is not an issue. A pleasant little experience that translates well from mobile to the Switch.
GameSpace: 8.5 / 10 by Scott Jeslis
Mystic Pillars has an elegant Indian story woven into the game's puzzle design. At times the storyboards felt more like a barrier to getting to the next set of fun and engaging pillar puzzles. Even though a story-based puzzle game is a novel idea Mystic Pillars would stand strong on being just an outright "puzzle game". The simplicity of the controls also makes it an exceptional "travel game" via the Switch's undocked mode and touch screen !
Pure Nintendo: 7.5 / 10 by Morgan Truder
Mystic Pillars is a challenging but fair puzzle game, offering strong visuals, music and story to accompany the puzzles. For anybody who enjoys a fresh challenge Mystic Pillars is worthy of your time.
