A colorful side-scrolling metroidvania, requiring a lot of precision from the player and in many ways similar to the Ori series. MIO: Memories in Orbit has us exploring the decks of a gigantic space ship, playing as a small robot. We must fight enemies (including bosses) and use our skills to explore hard-to-reach places.
MIO: Memories in Orbit is a metroidvania-style action platforming game, in which as a small robot we explore a gigantic spaceship to restore its former glory. The game features a side-scrolling adventure and is reminiscent of the Shady Part of Me.
The structure of MIO: Memories in Orbit resembles many other 2D metroidvania-style games. As a nimble little robot, we run and jump around the map, eliminating smaller enemies, and then discovering a secret boss. Precise movement is crucial for the gameplay. Apart from using skillful double jumps, we cling to points like Spider-Man and cut crystals to charge energy.
The game combines the exploration of a large ship with a labyrinthine structure, challenging platform stages, a narrative in an atmosphere of mystery, and dynamic battles requiring a sense of rhythm. Additionally, we improve and customize the skills of the titular MIO using collected components. Through modifications, we can glide or walk on walls like a spider.
Each of the opponents - from a mosquito to a scarecrow - has a unique fighting style and movement pattern. We need to dodge, throw projectiles, and even create our duplicates to use them as bait.
The world of MIO: Memories in Orbit is full of mysteries. The action takes place on a gigantic ship, whose power source is fading. We play as a small robot and we have a task of saving the robotic citizens.
MIO: Memories in Orbit is characterized by a full-color hand-drawn graphic design and a soundtrack that combines lo-fi music with choral melodies.
