LEGO Loco is a strategy game, produced by Intelligent Games studio and addressed to young railway fans. The player has the opportunity to build his own railway network based on elements modelled on LEGO City brick sets, and then direct the movement of trains running on it.
LEGO City is one of the oldest and still the most popular series of blocks produced by the Danish company LEGO. Considering the ion of young players for building and electric queues, Lego Media company decided to prepare a computer game that would combine both elements. LEGO Loco was entrusted to the British studio Intelligent Games, known for such titles as USS Ticonderoga: Life and Death on the High Seas, Dune 2000 or SimIsle: Missions in the Rainforest.
The creators set themselves the goal of creating a virtual simulation of the life of a city built of LEGO blocks. Using the "toolbox". (toolbox) players can build buildings known from the block original. The bloodstream of the metropolis is an efficient transport system, based mainly on railway connections. Therefore, the game consists mainly in the development of one's own network of tracks and train traffic control, allowing LEGO people to move between different parts of the city.
The unquestionable advantage of the game is its great freedom. Players have the opportunity to show their creativity by deg railway lines based on different types of tracks, road facilities, as well as trains. Achievements can be immortalized in the form of postcards exchanged with other LEGO Loco s via the Internet.
In of audio-visual setting, the game does not differ from the production standards published at a similar time (end of the 1990s). LEGO Loco graphics combine 2D and 3D display elements.
It is worth noting that the title was honoured with a number of prestigious distinctions, among which they were: CODIE Software Publishers Association Excellence in Software Awards - Best New Strategy and Simulation Software and PIN Quality Mark Gold Award - Parents Information Network.
