An isometric arena survival game, enriched with roguelike and bullet hell elements. Kill Knight allows us to play as a titular knight. We explore the vast Abyss, eliminating hordes of enemies using melee weapons and firearms. Over time we can improve our skills and gear.
Kill Knight is an arena survival game - a project bordering between action games, roguelikes and bullet hell shooters. The game was created by the Australian developer PlaySide Studios - the authors of Age of Darkness: Final Stand.
The main character of Kill Knight is a warrior who, as a result of betrayal, ended up in the Abyss. In the guise of the Death Knight (corpse clad in animated armor) the protagonist makes his way through this gloomy land, trying to reach the Last Angel and behead him.
In Kill Knight we watch the action in an isometric view. During the game we traverse five vast layers of the Abyss, where we face hordes of enemies. We eliminate enemies by using both melee weapons, which allow us to engage in close combat, and pistols (equipped with various firing modes), thanks to which we can keep adversaries at a distance.
The fights are extremely dynamic, and the enemies outnumber us, so on the battlefield we have to be in constant motion, dodging and performing accurate attacks. As we progress, we accumulate valuable resources that we must skillfully manage. We can also face various challenges to unlock new, increasingly powerful equipment. All of this means that if we manage to stay alive long enough, we can turn our knight into an unstoppable killing machine.
Kill Knight features only singleplayer gameplay. The leaderboards, which allow us to show off our results to the world, provide a semblance of competition with other players. There is a master mode here, in which all layers of the Abyss are combined into one gigantic arena. Additionally, we are given a choice of three difficulty levels, allowing us to adjust the game to individual preferences and skills.

Gameffine: 90 / 100 by Farzeen K H
Kill Knight isn’t for the faint of heart, but if you’re up for a challenge, it’s an exhilarating experience that will keep you hooked from start to finish. Sure, it has its rough edges, and the repetition might wear on some players. But for those who crave intense, skill-based action with a gothic, retro flair, Kill Knight delivers in spades. It’s one of those games where, even after countless deaths, you’re always itching for just one more run. And when you finally conquer the abyss, the victory is all the sweeter for having fought tooth and nail to get there.
Quest Daily: 8 / 10 by Nathanael Peacock
Kill Knight is a game that will kick you to the curb if you aren’t paying attention. It’s hard as nails but never unfair. If you die in a run, you just need to dust off your guns and do better.

There's a myriad of reasons why I wouldn't recommend Kill Knight for most of my friends, and only a few why I would. But herein lies the beauty of it: Kill Knight does the things right that this particular audience wants, and in doing so it cements itself as one of the best games in its genre. Just as long as you're in that very small subset of gamers who like that kind of thing.
