Kart Racer is a racing game, which is the result of cooperation between Nordic Games and Brain in a Jar development studio. According to the title, players play the roles of go-kart drivers and stand at the start of exciting open-air races.
Kart Racer, available on PC, PS2 and Wii, is the second racing game after Truck Racer created by Brain in a Jar studio and published by Nordic Games. The ambition of the Scandinavian publisher was to enrich the portfolio with a simple racing game addressed to a wide audience.
Players have the opportunity to test their driving skills by driving virtual go-karts. At the same time, the developers have tried to ensure that these vehicles have properties similar to their real counterparts. As a result, the vehicles can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h and accelerate at lightning speed, but easily lose grip.
The competitions in Kart Racer take place on open tracks with a large number of turns. During the game, the action is shown from behind the driver's back (TPP). However, the in-game replays allow the player to also see the events from other camera shots.
The driving model combines arcade and simulation elements. Virtual go-karts have a lot of understeer and the player has to adjust the speed at which they approach turns to avoid a collision. This is especially important when the race is held in winter conditions. A lot of confusion is also caused by collisions with other drivers, which most often results in an uncontrolled slip or spin. A collision may also result in deformation and damage to the bodywork.
The quality of the graphic design in Racer Cards isn't as good as in other similar titles. The go-kart models are characterized by a small number of details, and the silhouettes of individual players differ only in the colors of the helmets and suits.
