John Wick Chronicles is a first-person shooter for PC, designed with VR headsets in mind, and based on a 2014’s American action move directed by two former stuntmen: Chad Stahelski and David Leitch. The production was announced in August, 2015, and was published the following spring by Sterbreeze, an experienced Swedish company known for such titles as Payday series. The game was developed by Grab and WEVR studios. The former previously created a tech demo called theBlu: Encounter for HTC Vive headset. Basil Iwanyk, the co-producer of the movie original, was involved in the title’s development.
Plot
Both the movie’s and the game’s protagonist is a former killer for hire named John Wick (played by Keanu Reeves) who “retired” from the business for his beloved wife. Shortly after her death, Wick’s apartment is robbed and a Russian Mafioso’s son takes the hero’s last reminder of his wife. This fact is reason enough for him to take a bloody revenge on the criminals.
Technical aspects
John Wick Chronicles for PC requires a VR headset and s most of the popular devices of this type. The developer didn’t release a separate version that doesn’t require a VR headset to work.
Additional information
What’s interesting, John Wick Chronicles is not the first production by Starbreeze to use the license of the movie of the same title. The company also released a free DLC for Payday 2 which features the film’s protagonist.
