Heroes of Might & Magic V: Tribes of the East is the second official expansion tothe fifth installment of Heroes of Might & Magic series, which debuted in 2007. Just as in the case of the base game and its first add-on, the production was delivered to a Russian game developer Nival Interactive.

Tribes of the East is the last episode of the story about a war with demons in the universe of Ashan. A decisive role in resolving the conflict is played by Orcs, a tribe of merciless and brutal warriors, whose army also includes goblins, Cyclopes, and mighty flying creatures called Pao Kai. Apparently, the creators referred to Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, another game set in Ashan. The references to that title are also obvious in the thread of the Dark Messiah, as well as characters from the game by Arkane Studios.
