Gameplay

In Gothic the action is shown from a third-person perspective (TPP). The game offers a rather small open world in which we can find camps founded by ore diggers, mines, an orc village and numerous ruins. The story told is somewhat non-linear - the player can decide which faction to . It can affect the course of the main plot. In addition to quests pushing the story forward, various side missions are waiting to be completed.

The game world is not a safe place, and in addition to hostile convicts, there are also monsters. Although initially we mainly face representatives of the local fauna (such as wolves, large beetles or scavengers), over time we confront increasingly stronger opponents (like skeletons, orcs and demons). The battles are dynamic, and during them we can make use of both melee weapons (one- and two-handed swords, axes, hammers) and ranged weapons (crossbows, bows), as well as offensive and defensive magic.

As we progress, we gain experience points and, by advancing to the next levels, we gradually increase our combat potential with the help of teachers scattered around the game world. In addition to combat skills, the unnamed protagonist has other abilities - for example, he can learn to sneak behind enemies, produce useful equipment, and also pick locks.

Engine

Compared to the original Gothic, the remake stands out due to a completely refreshed graphic design, which is thanks to the use of Unreal Engine 5 technology.
