An espionage FPS from 1997, which years later lived to see a re-release for the Nintendo Switch console and a remastered version. It was developed by the well-deserved Rare studio.
GoldenEye 007 is a cult espionage FPS that debuted in 1997 on the Nintendo 64 console. Years later, the title lived to see a remaster, simultaneously with which the original version was made available to s of the Nintendo Switch platform. Both the original and its refreshed edition were developed by the well-deserved Rare studio.
The plot of GoldenEye 007 takes place in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The main character of the game is James Bond, i.e. Agent 007, working for the British intelligence service (MI6). This time the hero's task is to stop a crime syndicate from using the title GoldenEye - an armed satellite, which in the wrong hands can pose a huge threat to world order.
In GoldenEye 007, the action is observed from a first-person perspective (FPP). The game is divided into missions that throw us into various locations. During them we perform a variety of tasks, in which, of course, we are hindered by numerous enemies. We eliminate enemies, making use of a rich arsenal, including pistols, machine guns, sniper rifle, as well as grenades or throwing knives. The protagonist can also use two smaller guns simultaneously. Stealth elements are also implemented in the game; sometimes the best option is to take your finger off the trigger and kill the enemy silently or sneak behind his back. In addition, James Bond has several gadgets at his disposal, which prove useful in certain situations. Interestingly, we won't experience a health regeneration system or even first-aid kits; instead, armor is hidden in the locations, which provide us with an extra life bar.
The pillar of GoldenEye 007 is the story campaign, which can be completed on several difficulty levels. After ing the game on the highest of the latter, we unlock access to two bonus missions. In addition, players who like the so-called speedruns can still try to individual levels on time, in return for which various cheats are unlocked. In addition, the title offers a multiplayer mode; you can play with other players on a split screen or over the Internet, within one of several different modes.
The graphics in GoldenEye 007 could be considered outdated nowadays. Nevertheless, the remaster's authors limited themselves to making only minor improvements and adapting it to higher resolutions and widescreen displays.
