Release Date: December 3, 2018
A remastered version of the platform action game from 1991. Gods Remastered takes us on a journey to ancient Greece, allowing us to take on the role of a daredevil working for the Olympic deities. In return for completing the task entrusted to him, the hero is to become immortal and take a place among the gods.
Gods Remastered is a remastered edition of the 1991 action platform game developed by The Bitmap Brothers. The production was created by an independent team of Robot Riot, and was supervised by Mike Montgomery, one of the authors of the original game.
Gods Remastered takes players on a journey to Ancient Greece. When the divine citadel was captured by four Guardians, there was nothing left for the Olymp gods but to ask the earthly heroes to help with its recapturing, offering one wish in return. The warrior that players control asks Zeus and other gods to receive the gift of immortality and take a place among them (provided, of course, that his expedition is successful).
In Gods Remastered the action is shown from the side perspective. The game consists of four extensive levels (i.e. city, temple, labyrinth, and underground). Each of them has been divided into three smaller stages. As players travel through them, they must not only jump between platforms and avoid numerous pitfalls but also solve puzzles (requiring, for example, the acquisition of a specific item or the use of a lever) and face numerous adversaries led by the bosses who guard the next levels.
During battles players will use a diversified weaponry including both melee and ranged weapons. In addition, during the adventure players acquire various valuables that can be spent in the store that appears after each stage is completed - in this way, players resupply their hero with useful items and new weapons.
In addition to the standard game variant, Gods Remastered delivers the Speedrun mode, in which players are tasked with completing the game in the shortest time possible.
While working on Gods Remastered, the developers focused on the audio-visual layer which resulted in high quality textures, realistic lighting and 3D elements, as well as a tailor-made soundtrack. In addition, the game runs at sixty frames per second. However, nothing stands in the way of playing in the original 16-bit setting. A separate mention should be made of the fact that in comparison to its original, the game described herein introduces the presence of checkpoints.

Game Ratings for Gods Remastered Video Game.
Nintendo Life: 6 / 10 by Dom Reseigh-Lincoln
GODS Remastered is an odd remaster. The brand new visuals help give this incarnation of Ancient Greece a far more agreeable presentation with a proper lighting system, some much-improved character models and a soundtrack that helps do justice to the unforgettable original. But peel away those cosmetic changes and you’re left with a once brilliant action-platformer that has not aged well.
God is a Geek: 5 / 10 by Mick Fraser
I won't disparage what GODS is and always was, which is quite simply one of the greatest of its time - but that denomination of era is crucially important here. Because judged up against its contemporaries, the original was a powerhouse - but there's simply no real place for it in 2018.
PlayStation Universe: 5 / 10 by John-Paul Jones
By only making skin deep improvements to the game and not touching any of the deep-seated flaws that lurk at the core of Gods original 1991 offering, Gods Remastered ends up being a largely disappointing and straight-laced remaster that will likely only appeal to the most die-hard of fans.
