An FPP steampunk adventure game by the developers of Myst. Firmament is set in a fantasy world, which we traverse alongside our deceased mentor and floating robotic companion, solving puzzles and learning the story.
Firmament is a new game from Cyan, a studio founded back in 1987. This time, the creators of the renowned Myst series have created a VR steampunk adventure game. Players traverse a fictional world composed of four different lands alongside their deceased mentor and a floating robotic companion. The game was crowdfunded on Kickstarter.
The player character wakes up in an icy cave filled with strange pipes and gears. Having found a message from a dead woman claiming to be his mentor, he searches for answers: what happened to him, what went wrong and who to blame?
Firmament is an immersive FPP adventure game. The gameplay mostly revolves around exploring different locations, solving puzzles and uncovering the story.
During our journey we're accompanied by a floating, shapeshifting robotic companion in form of a small cube/ball. The player can communicate with it through gestures learned throughout the game.
Using the robot is key to solving many of the game's puzzles.
Firmament only s singleplayer.
Firmament runs on the Unreal Engine 4, its detailed locations, intriguing artstyle and steampunk atmosphere resulting in overall high-quality visuals. The soundtrack was composed by Russell Brower, known for Diablo III. The game was designed with VR in mind, ing Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
