Farewell North is an adventure game inspired by titles such as Lost Ember. The game was developed by independent developer - Kyle Banks - and its release was handled by Mooneye Studios.

Plot

Farewell North takes us to a fictional archipelago based on the Orkney and St Kilda islands. It's a land devoid of colors and we play as the border collie dog that goes there with its owner. Our job will be to try to restore its colors. It can be achieved by learning the history of this place and uncovering its secret, as well as helping the dog's owner to regain old memories.

The story presented in the game touches on topics such as saying goodbye and dealing with depression.

Mechanics

In Farewell North we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). During the game we can freely explore subsequent islands, running through picturesque meadows, climbing steep cliffs, or jumping over obstacles. It's also possible to jump on a kayak and explore the local waters with the help of the owner.

Along the way, we not only see echoes from the past, but also face various challenges. The dog must demonstrate ingenuity to solve puzzles based on perspective and color (which allows it to search for hidden objects and paths), as well as agility and speed (including tasks like herding a flock of sheep). From time to time we have to deal with threats from monsters inspired by Scottish folklore.

All our actions make the colors gradually return to the next islands we visit, and with them - life.
