Release Date: November 8, 2004
EverQuest II is a follow-up to an immensely popular MMORPG, released five years after the original. It was developed by Daybreak Game Company, a studio which created the whole franchise. The game is set in the land of Norrath, perfectly known to all the fans, which was enhanced with many new locations.
EverQuest II is a parallel, online universe to the original EverQuest. This new game world takes place 500 years after the time of the original game.
Players create a character from one of 16 playable races and advance in one of the game’s 24 different classes. Characters are extremely customizable, allowing players to create a unique-looking hero or villain. The world of EverQuest II is an entirely new world, filled with adventure. As players explore the new world of Norrath, they can encounter 160 different monster types, visit beautiful cities, crawl through dungeons filled with treasure and challenge, and gain dozens of skills and powerful spells. With player-owned real estate and mounts, the world of EverQuest II comes alive.
Tradeskills allow you to produce powerful weapons, equipment, and to become a great warrior and a famous craftsman. All players are free to create and guilds to perform cooperative raids, complete epic quests or produce and trade items. The visual experience of EverQuest II is unmatched by any massively multi-player online role-playing game ever created.
The level of graphics detail even exceeds that of the latest 3D-action games. Highly-detailed environments are almost life-like, and the depth of the character customization process lets you create a unique appearance. With the addition of voices for many non-player characters, players no longer have to read large amounts of text, drawing the player deeper into the game world. There are more than 130 hours of speech featured in the game, the equivalent of more than 65 feature films.
EverQuest II featuring 16 races, dozens of levels and 24 classes with a branching system that allows players to choose their class as they advance. There is no race/class combination limitations, allowing players to truly choose who they want to be in game. Player can encounter more than 160 unique creature types, from Orcs and Goblins to huge dragons and menacing Living Statues.

Continuation of the games is not surprising. The game world knows a lot of productions, whose subsequent parts were better than the original. But what does it look like with MMOs? Here the situation is a little more complicated.
The creative director of EverQuest 2 at the convention was critical of the current direction of the MMORPG genre. It bothers him that games of this type no longer build community and many of them can be played almost as singleplayer titles.
