Dungelot: Shattered Lands, released on AND, iOS and PC, is a hybrid of a roguelike RPG with Minesweeper mechanics. This is the third installment of the popular series and was developed by Red Winter Software studio, the same developer that worked on the previous installments.

Plot

Dungelot: Shattered Lands is set in a typical fantasy land, full of magic, monsters, and nonhuman races. While playing, we mainly explore randomly generated dungeons. There are several classes to choose from, each with unique skills and attributes. The whole thing is kept in a humorous atmosphere which makes fun of various cliches of this genre.

Mechanics

The exploration itself takes place in the style known from Minesweeper. Each board consists of several dozen square fields and when we enter a new map almost all of them are covered. We reveal each field by touching it. Some of them have special items and treasures, while others hide enemies, obstacles and traps. When we encounter enemies, the option of revealing all adjacent fields is blocked until we defeat our opponents with a variety of attacks and spells, like in a classic RPG. Our task is to use all these mechanics to find the keys that allow us to open the gates leading to the next chamber.

Successes are rewarded with experience points, for which we develop characters' statistics and teach them new skills. The equipment also plays an important role - we have to choose the right weapon and armor and constantly look for better items.
