Dual Universe

The players take on the roles of such travellers; the experience begins when the colonists are woken up from cryogenic sleep on the arrival at their destination.

Mechanics

In Dual Universe for PC, the player begins their adventure through creating their character; afterwards, they are taken to the surface of the first planet. After the landing, the Arkship which transported the colonists creates a safe zone around its body – it provides shelter for the characters. Soon however, the players must leave safety in order to begin the process of colonization. The game does not place any limits on the players, who themselves decide about the path of their career and what assignments they complete. The in-game construction system based on voxels allows the player to build whatever has come to their mind – one can create items, buildings, vehicles and spaceships above all.

Planets colonized in such a way are parts of one huge universe where all the s enjoy their experiences in a shared, virtual environment. The game was not based on a division into autonomous servers that do not interact with one another. Alongside the developments in this universe, the player-formed factions grow more powerful, gain new territories, construct space-fleets and improve their technologies. Both the in-game economy and politics are dependant entirely on decisions made by the players, as well as their actions.

Dual Universe for PC offers a flexible system of scripts, which allows to deeply affect how the ship or a machine performs, but also to design helpful artificial intelligences. The mechanics behind combat are arcade, both in case of fighting as a soldier and when the player is required to control a fighter or a cruiser. One can find safe zones, but away from them PvP encounters are not restricted in any way. Also, the player will have many occassions to fight against AI-controlled enemies.
